Mrs. Sybil Knight Parker, age 82, of Sandersville, died Thursday, August 02, 2018 following an extended illness.  A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 5th at 3:00 p.m. in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel.  Minister Marlon Lastinger will officiate.

Mrs. Parker was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Fred Thomas Knight and the late Susie Bell Pittman Knight.  She was the wife of the late Walter Thomas Parker, Sr.  Mrs. Parker was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women with degrees in home economics and elementary education.  She was an elementary school teacher at Sandersville Elementary for twelve years and taught second grade at Brentwood School for thirty years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sandersville.

Mrs. Parker is survived by her children, Patti P. Hitchcock and her husband Ronald of Tennille and Walt Parker Jr. of Warthen; grandchildren, Erin H. Youmans and her husband Win of Swainsboro, Jacob Hitchcock of Smyrna, Karen P. Ellis and her husband Joey of Sandersville and W.T. Parker III of Atlanta; great grandchildren, Asa Youmans, Case Youmans, Anna Beth Ellis and Parker Ellis; brothers, Franklin Knight and his wife Johnnie of Illinois and Alfred Knight and his wife Marilyn of Texas; and her faithful caregivers, Joe Ellen Walker aka “Margaret” and Marguita Butler.

The family will be at the Parker residence on Betty Street in Sandersville and they will receive friends on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and also following the funeral service both at the funeral home.
