Mr. Frank Fredrick Flanders, age 98, of Richmond Street, Sandersville, died Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at The Waterford at Oakwood Assisted Living Center in Oakwood, Georgia following an extended illness.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 31st at 4:00 p.m. at Sandersville United Methodist Church with burial in Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville.  Reverend Dr. Stan Littleton and Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate.  The family will greet friends in the Heritage Hall of the church from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of service.  Pallbearers will be Daniel Avrett, Scott Whitesides, Mark Whitesides, David Wolfe, Allen Wolfe and Gregory Avrett.

Mr. Flanders was born and raised in Johnson County, the son of the late Pompie Flanders and the late Nettie Duggar Flanders.  After graduation from Johnson County High school, Mr. Flanders joined the Army and served his country during WWII.  He was the former owner and operator of the Palace Meat Market for over 55 years.  Mr. Flanders was an active and longtime member of Sandersville United Methodist Church and was one of the last living members of the Men’s Bible Class.  He treasured time with family and loved to travel.   Mr. Flanders is predeceased by his wife, Allene Young Flanders and his grandson, Gregory Frank Avrett.

Survivors are his daughters, Frances F. Avrett of Hoschton, Emily F. Whitesides and her husband Edward of Murrayville, and Carole F. Wolfe and her husband Larry of Temple Terrace FL.; grandchildren, Lee Anna Webster and her husband Jeff and  Laura Towner and her husband Mike all of Suwanee, Daniel Avrett and his wife Jennifer of Jefferson, Sarah Shipe and her husband Chris of Gainsville, Scott Whitesides and his wife Cindy of Macon, Mark Whitesides of Roswell, Virginia Nester and her husband Dan of Gainsville, David Wolfe of Dover, FL., Allen Wolfe of Temple Terrace, FL., and Phillip Wolfe of Sandersville; twenty-one great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
