Miss Cynthia Allyson Maffett, age 54, of Sandersville died on Monday October 22 in a Washington County Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Sandersville, with burial in Washington County Memorial Gardens.  Reverend Lee Lacey will officiate.

Miss Maffett was a native and life-long resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late C. W. “Jack” Maffett and the late Emma Ruth Maffett.  She was a pre-kindergarten teacher with Bibb County Board of Education at Southfield Elementary School.  Miss Maffett was a graduate of Georgia College with a degree in education and received her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Clemson University.  She was an avid Clemson fan and loved those Clemson Tigers.  She was a member of the Clemson Alumni Association.  Miss Maffett was a member of the Georgia Association and Bibb County Association of Educators.  She was a member of First Baptist Church of Sandersville and the Mike Beckworth Sunday School Class.  She was an honorary member of the McDonald’s Coffee Club.

Survivors are: her sister, Stephanie Maffett Salzinger and her husband Sanford of Atlanta; a niece, Meredith Salzinger; a nephew, Phillip Salzinger; two aunts, Mardelle Carter of Bickley and Mary Ann Cawley of Macon; and several cousins.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The family suggest donations be made to Southfield Elementary Parent -Teachers Association, 4375 Bloomfield Drive Ext., Macon, Georgia 31206 or to First Baptist Church of Sandersville Library Fund, 316 Mathis Circle, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
