William Hoke Davis, age 55, of Sandersville, died Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Washington County Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness.  A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 30th at 11:00 a.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery on County Line Road.   Reverend Danny Thomas will officiate.   Pallbearers will be Thomas Avant, Jared Bass, Keaton Tapley, Larry Pulliam, Rusty Sanders, and Jacob Nolan.

William was born in Baldwin County, the son of the late Hoke Smith Davis, and the late Nancy Durden Davis. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Morgan Corp., a job he took pride in and dearly loved.  He was a member of his home church Friendship Baptist, and he was an avid fisherman, so much so, he was nicknamed “Catfish”.  Above all, William loved being a brother, father and uncle. He especially loved being a grandfather to his pride and joy, Tucker Lee Davis.

Survivors are: siblings; Clarence Durden and his wife Dianne, James Durden and his wife Brenda and Carolyn D. Scott all of Sandersville; his grandson, Tucker Lee Davis; step daughters, Michelle Knowles and Jennifer Hilliard; daughter-in-law Sierra Corder-Davis; nieces and nephews, Clint and Dawn Durden, Tammy and Marc Glaser, Shauna and Wayne Andrews, Debra Durden, Mandi Scott, Gayner and Gigi Durden and Katie and Alan Darsey; great nieces and nephews, Zara Scott, Chase Durden, Charis Andrews, Natalie Durden, Zoe Scott, Amelia Andrews, Zea Wright, Ty Darsey, Witt Glaser, Madelyn Durden and Trevor Darsey; great-great nieces and nephews, Carmen Wright and Ava Grace Scott.  William is predeceased by his beloved son Anthony William Davis and his nephew, Samuel Anthony Scott.

The family will be at the residence of Carolyn Scott on Linton Road and they will receive friends Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
