Mr. Daniel Clark Moye, age 88 of Tennille died at his home on Saturday, November 10, 2018. Funeral services for Mr. Moye will be held at Tennille United Methodist Church on Wednesday, November 14 at 11:00 AM with burial in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverend Randall Smith, Reverend Roger Holley, and Reverend Ron Dixon will officiate. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Warren, Daniel Moye, Will Warren, Wes Moye, Thomas Moye, Frank Moye, Billy Pate, Lee Lord, Chris McCoy, Wayne Norris and Joe Floyd.

Mr. Moye was born in Davisboro, Georgia. He was the son of the late Lonnie J. Moye, Sr. and the late Vesta Wommack Moye. He graduated from Davisboro High School in the class of 1947. Mr. Moye attended Georgia Military College in Milledgeville and was a graduate of the University of Georgia School of Pharmacy in 1957. He served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954 during the Korean War.

Mr. Moye was the owner of Moye’s Pharmacy in Tennille for many years and after his retirement in 1993 he worked as a Pharmacist at Washington County Regional Medical Center and several area drug stores. In 2008 he was honored by the Georgia Pharmaceutical Association for fifty years of dedicated service to Pharmacy. He was an active member of the Tennille United Methodist Church serving as Administrative Board Chairman and as Chairman of Trustees. He served faithfully as Sunday School Superintendent for twenty-five years. He was a member and past Master of the Masonic Order Tennille Lodge 256 F & AM, the York Rite Bodies, the Scottish Rite Bodies, and the Al Shiah Shrine. In 2016 he was recognized by the Tennille Lodge for his sixty years of service to the Masonic Order. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie J. Moye Jr. of Sandersville and his sisters, Valeria Pate, Harriett Francis and Edith McCoy all of Davisboro.

 

Survivors are his wife, Mary McAfee Moye; his daughter, Ann Moye Warren and her husband Ben of Cartersville; his son, Carl Moye and his wife Casey of Sandersville; his son, Danny Forde and his wife Gail of Safety Beach, Australia and his daughter, Lynn Byrnes and her husband Terry of Melbourne, Australia; his beloved grandchildren: Carrie Rankin, Brooke Bazley, Rod Byrnes, Benjamin Warren, Daniel Moye, Will Warren, Wes Moye, Julia Warren and Thomas Moye; his sister, Elizabeth Bender of Davisboro; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his dedicated caregivers, Bobby Roberson, Sally Roberson and Crystal James of Tennille.

The family will always be grateful for the warm and compassionate care given to both Dan and Mary by the staff of Pruitt Hospice. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 13 from 5:00 to 7:00 at May Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Tennille United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 265, Tennille, GA 31089 or to Zeta Cemetery Trust, P.O. Box 1, Tennille, GA 31089.
