Mrs. Helen Thigpen Bell, age 84, of Augusta, died Monday, February 4, 2019, at her residence following an extended illness.  A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 7th at 11:00 a.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville, with burial in Brownwood Cemetery.  Reverend Rich Bowen will officiate.   Pallbearers will be Randy Branan, Van Branan, Royce Branan, Gregory Jimenez, Charles Jimenez, and Bo Taylor.

Mrs. Bell was born in Laurens County the daughter of the late Alfred Freeman Thigpen and the late Vando Grizzard Thigpen.  She was retired from the Civil  Service at Fort Gordon and a member of the New Hope Worship Center.   Mrs. Bell is also predeceased by her husband, Harvey Bell, and siblings: Frances Martin, Velma Etheridge, Lois Branan, and A.F. Thigpen.

Survivors include: her daughter, Robin B. Jimenez of Augusta; grandchildren, Gregory Jimenez and his wife Isila, Charles Jimenez and his wife Loren, and Bo Taylor; great grandchildren, Rayna Jimenez, Leiana Jimenez, and Elena Jimenez; her sister, Joyce Elton and her husband Charles of Augusta; her great-niece Stacey Taylor and her husband Tony of Sandersville; nephews, Randy Branan and his wife Joyce of Sandersville, Van Branan and his wife Violet of Deepstep, and Royce Branan and his wife Annette of Woodstock; and her devoted care giver, Charlotte Ross.

The family will greet friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home.

May and Smith Funeral Home of Sandersville is in charge of the service.
