RICHARD LEE “RICK” SETTLE

Mr. Richard Lee “Rick” Settle, age 54, of Davisboro GA., formerly of Jacksonville Fl., died Sunday, February 24, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness.  A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, March 1st at 2:00 p.m. at Amerson Family Cemetery on South Sparta-Davisboro Road in Washington County with Military Honors.  Chaplain Emory Lussi will officiate.

Mr. Settle was born and raised in Kentucky, the son of the late Flander Ray Settle and the late Anna Jane Murphy Settle.  After graduating high school, Rick enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served in numerous capacities prior to retiring after 21 years of service as a correctional custody specialist.  After his Navy retirement, he continued to work in corrections with the Naval Training Command in Goose Creek, SC., and also as a contract Facility Director with the Florida Department of Corrections in Jacksonville, Fl.  Recently, Rick along with his wife Cathy, moved to Washington County to the Amerson Family farm where Rick loved being outdoors.

Survivors include his wife, Cathy Amerson Settle of Davisboro; children, Brittany VanZile Wood and her husband Brian of Clayton, NC.  and Bradley Wayne Settle of Davisboro; grandchildren, Abigale Wood and Emily Wood; siblings, Donnie Meredith and his wife Carole, Robert Settle and his wife Doris, Martha LeRoy and her husband Gary, and John Michael Watt and his wife Tonya all of Kentucky; and his father and mother-in-law, Billy and Carolyn Amerson of Warner Robins.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the Amerson Family Farm, 2608 S. Sparta-Davisboro Road, Davisboro.
