WILLIE BELL SMITH BRIDGES

Mrs. Willie Bell Smith Bridges, age 85, of Tennille, died Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Wrightsville Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 27th at 11:00 a.m. in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Brownwood Cemetery.  Reverend Bobby Williford will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Blake Collins, Cody Payne, Sydney Bryan, Jimmy Lee Bridges, Charlie Denton, and Russell Denton.

Mrs. Bridges was a native of Anderson S.C., the daughter of the late Tommy Walter Smith and the late Emma McGee Smith.  She was a seamstress with Studdard Manufacturing and Royal Manufacturing.  She also worked as a nurse’s aide for Rawlings Nursing Home and Gibson Nursing Home.  She was an active member of Kendall Heights Church of God.  Mrs. Bridges is predeceased by her husband, Reverend James E. Bridges.

Survivors are her children, James E. Bridges Jr. and his wife Frances of Ivey, Douglas E. Bridges and his wife Lynne of Harrison and Carrie Elaine Denton and her husband David of Tennille; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and siblings, Bobby Ray Smith of Anderson, S.C., Martha S. Smith of Abbyville, S.C., Nancy Jo Thacker of Greenville, S.C. and Oma Rebecca Christian of Anderson, S.C.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 27th at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at May and Smith Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Kendall Heights Church of God Building Fund c/o James Norris 5783 Hwy. 24 East, Sandersville, GA. 31082.
