Mrs. Sara Hartley Perry, 84 of Adairsville, GA passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Sunday, May 5, 2019. Sara was born May 31, 1934 in Charlotte, NC to the late Mr. E. Lee Holmes and Mrs. Hattie Kelly Holmes of Sandersville.

Sara was a devoted mother and wife. She always put everyone else’s needs before her own. She enjoyed being “Nanny” and “Granny” to her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She graduated top of her class from Sandersville High School before attending Mercer University. She also attended Texas Wesleyan College and the University of Maryland where she studied accounting and business. Sara was retired from First Community Bank in Cartersville as a loan officer after many years in the banking industry. She loved sewing, music and her garden. When she wasn’t in the garden, she was in the kitchen. She was a devout Christian and faithful member of Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church in Cartersville. She was a member of the Marco Sunday School Class. She will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Sara is preceded in death by her first husband, O. Mayo Hartley, and her parents.

She is survived by her loving husband of 28 Thomas Eugene “Gene” Perry, Son; Michael (Linda Wade) Hartley, daughter, Linda Kay Hartley and daughter, Kelly (Tim) Hackney, six grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, sisters; Carolyn (Billy) Marchman, Barbara Sheppard, and Linda Garrett.Many nieces and nephews also survive to cherish Sara’s memory.

A Celebration of life Service will be conducted in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at three o’clock in the afternoon with the Revs. Nina Jones and Michael Hunt officiating. Interment will follow the service in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cartersville.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 7, 2019 from five o’clock in the evening until eight.
