Mrs. Vera Goodman Jordan Mimbs, age 91, of Sandersville, died Friday, May 31, 2019 at Washington County Extended Care Facility following an extended illness.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at Sandersville United Methodist Church with burial in Brownwood Cemetery.  Reverend Dr. Stan Littleton will officiate.  Mrs. Mimbs’ family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service in the Heritage Hall at SUMC.  Pallbearers will be Carwin Avant, Randy Helton, Randy Mayberry, Roan Miller, Gene Renfroe, Wesley Sheppard, and Ben Salter.  Sitting as an honorary group will be the 20th Century Club Members.

Mrs. Mimbs was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late James Henry Goodman and the late Cynthia Horton Goodman King.  She joined Sandersville United Methodist Church at age six where she remained a faithful member for her entire life.  She was a member of the Adult Fellowship Sunday School Class, a former member of the church administrative council, former Sunday School teacher and enjoyed serving on the hospitality committee.  Mrs. Mimbs spent her working career with the Georgia Department of Transportation retiring as the district procurement officer.  She was an active member and past president of the 20th Century Club.  Mrs. Mimbs was proud to be a lifelong Democrat and was an ardent fan of both President Franklin D. Roosevelt and her fellow Georgian, President Jimmy Carter.  She is predeceased by her husbands, Thomas Bryant Jordan and Jerry Eldon Mimbs.

Survivors include her children, Linda J. Cowan and her husband Mike, and Thomas B. Jordan Jr. and his wife Barbara W. Jordan, all of Sandersville; grandchildren, Laura A. Morris and her husband  Kevin of Savannah, Edward T. Averett and his wife Tori of Troy, AL., Bryant Jordan III and Elizabeth C. Jordan, both of Sandersville; great grandchildren Charles Morris, Ethan Morris and Ellis Averett; step children Larry Mimbs and his wife Billie Ann of Tennille, and Steve Mimbs and his wife Debbie of Jefferson; step grandchildren, LeaAnn Mimbs, Kellie M. Hatton and her husband Jay, Melody Mimbs and Matt Mimbs; and her devoted caregiver, Mary Harden.

The family would like to express their appreciation for their loving care of Mrs. Mimbs to the Tennille Retirement Home, Washington County ECF, and Pruitt Hospice staff.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sandersville UMC Altar Fund, P.O.
