The Washington County Sheriff Candidate Forum was held at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 1st at Oconee Fall Line Technical College. The event was hosted by the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and the Washington County Farm Bureau.
The three (3) qualified candidates for Sheriff of Washington County attended the forum to express their qualifications and goals, as well as answer questions from a moderator.

Michael Johnson
A Special Election to fill the vacancy in the office of Washington County Sheriff will take place on Tuesday, November 5th. The position is currently held by Interim Sheriff of Washington County Mark McGraw.
The final day to register and be eligible to vote in the November 5th Special Election is Monday, October 7th.
Early voting is set to be held from Monday, October 14th through Friday, November 1st in the offices behind the Washington County Tag Office, which is located at 117 Jones Street in Sandersville. Advance Voting will be held from 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M..
Polls will be open from 7:00 A.M. until 7:00 P.M. on the day of the Special Election for Washington County Sheriff on Tuesday, November 5th.
If a run-off election is necessary, it will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd.
The person elected from the Special Election shall hold office for the remainder of the current unexpired term of Sheriff.
