Mr. William Roy Brantley, age 77, of Oconee, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Washington County Extended Care Facility.  A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Antioch Christian Church in Oconee with burial in the church cemetery.  Reverend Tom Howard and nephew, Darrell Brantley will officiate.  Pallbearers will be Clay Brantley, David Brantley, Chris Hodges, Heath Pittman, Lyle Pittman, Jimmy Pittman, Shannon Moxley, and Troy Moxley.

Mr. Brantley was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Ernest Washington Brantley and the late Benita Kate McCoy Brantley.  He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lamar “Cooter” Brantley and Daniel Wade Brantley.  He was a retired diesel mechanic with BASF formally known as Englehard.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed going with anybody that wanted to go.  He loved to just get out and ride whether it was in the truck or on the four-wheeler.  He enjoyed watching his Georgia Bulldogs and NASCAR.  His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Sam.  Roy was a member of Antioch Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Smith Brantley of Oconee; daughter, April Brantley Young and her husband Sammy of Wrightsville; grandson, Samuel Roy Young; brother, Howard Brantley and his wife Ronnie of Oconee; sister, Dorothy Jean Jones of Sandersville; sister-in-law, Janis Brantley of Oconee; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at May & Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
