
During the week of October 4-10 cities across Georgia will celebrate Georgia Cities Week. This week is set aside to recognize the many services city governments provide and their contribution to a better quality of life in Georgia.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Georgia Municipal Association’s Georgia Cities Week was moved from April to October.
This year’s theme, “Building the 2020 Vision” reflects the role cities play in the state’s history, economy and culture.
Several municipalities in Washington County have events planned to share information about the valuable services they provide to residents, to highlight successful community projects and infrastructure enhancements, to connect residents with each other, and to build/improve working relationships with the public.
During Georgia Cities Week, the City of Tennille will collect old/scrap tires. Residents of the City of Tennille are encouraged to place the tires near the curb for collection during the week of October 4-10. Tires will be collected in the City of Tennille from residential homes, not commercial businesses. This collection is funded by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s Local Government Scrap Tire Abatement Reimbursement (STAR) Program.
The City of Davisboro is planning a day of fun, food, and festivities on Saturday, October 10 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Davisboro City Council.
The City of Sandersville has planned a Trash Amnesty Day for Saturday, October 10 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. This event will take place at the Public Works Annex Building located at 124 South Hospital Road in Sandersville. In addition, the Sandersville Police Department will collect expired or unused prescription drugs from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Sandersville Police Department located at 130 Malone Street in Sandersville.
