Mrs. Mary Haynes Johnson transitioned to her heavenly home on Monday, November 23, 2020 after a brief illness. Graveside services were held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Dixon Grove Church Of God In Christ, Tennille, Georgia with Pastor Wallace Smith, officiating.
She was born on December 10, 1937 to the parentage of the late Mr. Lewis Haynes and the late Mrs. Lelia Mae Jones Haynes. Mother Johnson attended the public schools of Washington County. She was married to the late Mr. William H. Johnson in 1957. She was employed at the local Cotton Mill and at Corbett Plywood of Tennille, Georgia.
Mother Johnson gave her life to Christ at an early age and served faithfully over the years. She was willing to do as the Holy Spirit guided her. She was a member of Temple of Praise Church, Sandersville Georgia under the leadership of Pastor Wallace Smith.
Mother Johnson leaves to cherish her memories three daughters: Mrs. Mary Ann Johnson Carr, Ms. Barbara Jean Johnson, Tennille, GA, Mrs. Joanne Johnson Upton, Milledgeville, GA; one sister, Mrs. Mary Will Pickett, Bridgeton, N.J., five grandchildren: Mr. Sylvester (Constance) Johnson, Pensacola, FL., Mrs. Tamona (Walter) Reese, Canton,MI, Mr. Vincent (Trisetta) Paris, Columbus, OH, Mr. Chester (Shanetra) Upton IV, Mr. William Antonio Upton, Milledgeville, GA; seventeen great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; god children: Wright Family; devoted godson, Mr. Larry Lee Morris; goddaughter, Ms. Stella Revell; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and friends.
