Mr. Ted Lennard Veal, age 77, died Saturday, November 28, 2020 following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 1st at 1:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Deepstep UMC Cemetery. Reverend Danny Thomas and Reverend Alan Heath will officiate. Pallbearers will Michael Yates, Matthew Yates, Ryan Veal, Taylor Veal, John McDonald III, Seth Barron, West Veal and Lee Avant.
Ted was a native of Washington County, the son of the late John West Veal and the late Irma Giles Veal. He graduated from Washington County High School in the Class of 1961 and began his working career with Central Packing Company prior to working in the Kaolin Industry with Englehard from which he retired as a production supervisor. In retirement, he worked for Lee’s Brake and Muffler. Ted loved wood working and was an avid gardener. He is predeceased by his son, Ted Daniel Veal and brothers, G.A. Veal and Clifton Veal.
Survivors are his wife, Theresa B. Veal of Gibson; son, Scott Veal and his wife Mary Margaret of Mitchell; daughter-in-law, Debra S. Veal of Tennille; grandchildren, Brandon Veal and his wife Brittany of Lawrenceville, Taylor Veal of Augusta, Mary Grace Veal, Caroline Veal and Jack Veal all of Mitchell; great granddaughter, Dannielle Veal; and sister, Martha Y. Darity and her husband John of Tennille.
The family will great friends prior to the funeral service from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
