Advance/Early voting for the March 16 Special Election is underway for residents of the City of Sandersville.

The Special Election in the City of Sandersville will determine whether or not to allow package sales of malt beverages, wine, and distilled spirits by retailers on Sundays.

A county-wide referendum was passed last year by voters for the unincorporated areas of the County; this special election pertains specifically to the incorporated area of the City of Sandersville.

Advance/Early voting for this Special Election will take place from Monday, February 22 through Friday, March 12. Early voting takes place Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the office located in the rear of the Tag Office at 117 Jones Street in Sandersville. Only residents of the City of Sandersville will vote in this special election.

As previously reported by WACO 100, Sandersville City Council adopted a resolution calling for the special election at their Tuesday, January 19 Council meeting.

The March 16 Special Election ballot will include the following question:

Shall the governing authority of the City of Sandersville be authorized to permit and regulate package sales by retailers of malt beverages, wine, and distilled spirits on Sundays between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.? Yes/No?

Polls will be open on Election Day, Tuesday, March 16, from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
