Tennille Planning & Zoning Commission to Hear Request for Zone Variance

The City of Tennille’s Planning & Zoning Commission will hear a zone variance special exception request at their Monday, March 8 meeting at 6 p.m.

City of Tennille’s Building Inspector Mike Wiggins discussed the request with the Tennille Mayor and Council during their most recent City Council meeting held on Monday, March 1.

Wiggins explained that the request is to allow a mobile home in an R-3 zone located on East Adams Street in Tennille.

“We aren’t anticipating any issues with that,” said Building Inspector Wiggins.

He stated that notice of this public hearing was advertised. The public hearing will be conducted by tele-conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tennille City Council will also conduct a public hearing regarding this request at their Monday, March 15 meeting at 6 p.m.

When discussing the building permits in the City of Tennille during the month of February, Wiggins stated that the total value of the work permitted was $24,850. Permit fees collected by the City amounted to $372 during the month.

“We had a pretty good month,” said Wiggins. He added, “Things picked up as they always seem to do in the springtime.”

Building Inspector Wiggins also reported that he will review the new zoning maps, boundary maps, and voting district maps. Mayor Eartha Cummings stated that the City received the electronic copies of those maps; those will be shared with the Planning & Zoning Commission for review.

Following Building Inspector Wiggins’ report, Mayor Pro-Tem Brainard Crawford asked that Wiggins meet with him [Crawford] and City Attorney Michael Howard to review the City’s codes and ordinances.
