CLAUDIA FLEMING

Mrs. Claudia Flemming of Warthen, Georgia departed this life on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Augusta University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. Graveside funeral services were held on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Warthen with Reverend Christopher Watkins officiating.

She was born on November 13, 1921 in Washington County to the parentage of the late Mrs. Claudia Allen Burten and the late Mr. Robert Brown. At an early age she joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend M.W. Wiley. She grew up in Washington County and was educated in the public school systems of Washington and Hancock Counties. For higher education, she attended The Log Cabin Center. Mrs. Claudia was an elementary school teacher for the Washington County public school system from 1943 until 1947. In 1940, she married the late Mr. Charlie B. Flemming. To this union, nine children were born with three preceding her in death, infant baby girl Mary, Ms. Doris Flemming, and Mr. Charlie B. Flemming, Jr.

Mrs. Flemming leaves to cherish her memories, four daughters, Ms. Agnes Flemming, Ms. Martha Flemming, Mrs. Marilyn Engram, Warthen, and Mrs. Carolyn Billings, Carrollton, Georgia; two sons, Mr. Kenneth Flemming and Mr. Randy Flemming, Warthen; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
