Washington County NB&PW, Inc. Head Start/Georgia Pre-K plans to resume their five-day weekly school schedule beginning Monday, April 12.

In a letter to parents and guardians dated April 2, Executive Director Susie D. Wilcher and Family & Community Engagement Manager Sharon L. Jordan explained that the decision was made based on the latest data concerning COVID-19.

“As a result of the tremendous decrease of individuals contracting coronavirus, the number of deaths, and the availability of the vaccine for immunization used as a preventative measure of preventing the spread of COVID-19, classes will return to five days a week, 6.5 hours per day,” said Wilcher and Jordan.

Both Wilcher and Jordan commended parents and guardians for their ongoing support and cooperation throughout the pandemic.

“We have not had to close down a classroom or center due to our stringent COVID-19 mitigation protocol,” said Wilcher and Jordan.

While classes will resume on Monday, April 12, mitigation protocols will continue. These protocols include temperature checks, questions, face coverings, and social distancing.

“Remember, COVID-19 is still here, and we must continue to practice the protocols to stay safe and well,” said Wilcher and Jordan.

Classes begin Monday, April 12 at 7:45 a.m.
