Mrs. Jane Sheppard Summerlin, age 84, of Sandersville, passed away on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 following an extended illness. A graveside funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, April 16th at 11:00 A.M. in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverend Andy Yates will officiate. Mrs. Summerlin’s grandsons and grandson-in-law will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Summerlin was born and raised in Davisboro, the daughter of the late Frank Lee Sheppard, Jr. and the late Lina Josey Sheppard. She graduated from the Sandersville High School and began her working career as a phone operator for Southern Bell prior to becoming the office manager for Blacks Tire Company. Later, Jane worked as a salesclerk for Karols of Sandersville and as a receptionist for Dr. Fred Godine. She was an avid reader and her favorite hobby was assembling puzzles. Mrs. Summerlin attended the First Presbyterian Church of Sandersville. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alex G. “Cuz” Summerlin, an infant daughter, Renee Jane Black, her brother, Charles Lee Sheppard, and her son-in-law, Michael Owen Lord.

Survivors include, her children, Steve Black and his wife Robin of Davisboro, Darlene Black Lord, and Troy Black and his wife Sherri all of Tennille; grandchildren, Jerel Black, Jason Black, Dustin Lord, Taylor L. Armour and her husband Lee, Alise Black, Kyle Black, and Faith Black; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Michael Lord, Ada James Armour, and Finley Jane Young; and her sister, Linda Sheppard Lamb of Blyth.

The family will be at the residence of Darlene Lord on Edwards-Ford Road in Tennille. They will receive friends following the graveside funeral service in the cemetery.
