Mr. Malcolm Wesley Sheppard, age 90, of Sandersville, passed away on Sunday, April 25, 2021.  A graveside funeral service celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, April 28th at 11:00 A.M. in the Brownwood Cemetery in Sandersville. Reverend Tony Mimbs will officiate.

Mr. Sheppard was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Lyman McKlesky Sheppard and the late Rosa Belle Meeks Sheppard. He graduated from the Sandersville High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army in Korea. Mr. Sheppard began his working career in the Kaolin Industry for Yara, operating a drilling rig. Later, he obtained a license to operate a wastewater treatment plant, working in that capacity for the City of Sandersville from which he retired. Mr. Sheppard was skilled with his hands, always working with electronics and repairing TV’s. In retirement, he loved woodworking, crafting angels, wooden frames, and cedar trunks for family members. Mr. Sheppard was an active member of the Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church where he served as a church deacon. He is predeceased by his son, Glenn Malcolm Sheppard; his granddaughter, Whitney A. Hill; and great-grandchildren, Preston and Madison Sheppard.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Claire Tanner Sheppard of Sandersville; children, Wesley Sheppard and his significant other Pam of Sandersville and Kathy Sheppard Hill of Stockbridge; grandchildren, Devon Louise Sheppard and her significant other Brent, Sheryl Suzanne Brantley and her husband Melvin, Owen Wesley Sheppard and his wife Shannon, Jennie Mae Hill Smith and her husband Stephen, and Amanda Hill Irby and her husband Richard; and great-grandchildren, Stuart Foshee, Brayden Brantley, Aubrey Rose Brantley, Oliver Thomas Sheppard, Archer John Sheppard, Georgia Mae Smith, and Sheppard Randall Augustus Smith.

The family will greet friends following the graveside service on Wednesday in the Cemetery.
