Individual Airlifted Following Mother’s Day Shooting at Waffle House

An early morning shooting on Sunday, May 9 resulted in one individual being airlifted to a trauma center at an Augusta Hospital.

According to Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran the victim in this incident is Kayiah Faulkner, 20, of Sandersville; she was shot during the crossfire, and is in critical condition.

“Ms. Faulkner was merely an innocent bystander,” said Washington County Sheriff Cochran.

The Sandersville Police Department’s Uniform Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the incident; Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies also responded to assist.

According to the Sandersville Police Department, the shooting took place around 3 a.m. Sunday morning at the Waffle House in Sandersville.

The Sandersville Police Department explained that their Uniform Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation has worked non-stop since 3 a.m. Sunday to solve this case.

This shooting is believed to be gang motivated, and is believed to be connected to the recent shootings that took place on Thursday, April 22, Friday, April 23, and Sunday, April 25.

“The Sandersville Police Department will not idly standby and allow young men to terrorize our City by shooting and injuring innocent people,” reads a Sunday afternoon post on the Sandersville Police Department Facebook page.

According to the Sandersville Police Department, two arrests have already been made in this case; they anticipate more arrests. One individual who is wanted in connection with this case is 20-year-old George Reeves.
