Seven People Arrested Following Shooting at Waffle House

Seven individuals are in custody following a Sunday morning shooting at the Waffle House in Sandersville that resulted in one individual being airlifted to a trauma center at an Augusta Hospital.

As previously reported by WACO 100, three arrests were made Sunday evening; two more arrests were made on Monday, May 10 and Tuesday, May 11, and two additional arrests took place on Wednesday, May 12.

The seven individuals in custody are: Thomas Tanner, 37, of Sandersville, Malik Holsey, 20, of Sandersville, George Reeves, 20, of Tennille, Alex Brown, 35, of Sandersville, Mardarious Brown, 20, of Sandersville, Charles Jamaal Watson, 29, of Sandersville, and one juvenile.

– Thomas Tanner is charged with possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit felonies.
– Malik Holsey is charged with false statements or writings
– George Reeves is charged with aggravated assault and probation violation
– Alex Brown is charged with reckless conduct
– Mardarious Brown is charged with aggravated assault
– Charles Jamaal Watson is charged with aggravated assault.

They are booked in the Washington County Jail.

As previously reported, according to Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran the victim in this incident is Kayiah Faulkner, 20, of Sandersville; she was shot during the crossfire.

“Ms. Faulkner was merely an innocent bystander,” said Washington County Sheriff Cochran.

The Sandersville Police Department’s Uniform Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigation Division responded to the incident; Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies also responded to assist.

According to the Sandersville Police Department, the shooting took place around 3 a.m. Sunday morning at the Waffle House in Sandersville.

The Sandersville Police Department explained that their Uniform Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation has worked non-stop since 3 a.m. Sunday to solve this case.

This shooting is believed to be gang motivated, and is believed to be connected to the recent shootings that took place on Thursday, April 22, Friday, April 23, and Sunday, April 25.

“The Sandersville Police Department will not idly standby and allow young men to terrorize our City by shooting and injuring innocent people,” reads a Sunday afternoon post on the Sandersville Police Department Facebook page.
