GEMA/Homeland Security Mass Vaccination Site in Sandersville to Close on Friday, May 21

The Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security managed mass vaccination site located at Word of Life Church in Sandersville will close at the end of business on Friday, May 21.

According to GEMA, second dose appointments for the Pfizer vaccine will be available through the close of business. In addition, the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine will be offered to drive-up customers through Friday.

As previously reported by WACO 100, the state operated mass vaccination site opened in Washington County on Wednesday, March 17. Initially the site offered Pfizer vaccine, but transitioned to the Johnson & Johnson vaccine once the closures were announced.

GEMA/Homeland Security operated eight vaccine sites throughout Georgia in the following locations: the Delta Air Lines Museum in Hapeville, the Lakepoint Sports Complex in Emerson, the Habersham County Fairgrounds in Clarkesville, the Macon Farmers Market in Macon, the Word of Life Church in Sandersville, the Columbus Civic Center in Columbus, Gulfstream Aerospace in Savannah, and the Waycross Mall in Waycross.

The State is encouraging anyone looking to receive the COVID-19 vaccine following the closure of the mass vaccination sites to contact the Georgia Department of Public Health, or to visit the Vaccine Finder website at www.vaccines.gov
