When the Kaolin Festival concluded on that crisp fall evening in 2019, it turned to the Washington County community like Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1984 film “The Terminator,” and stated, “I’ll be back!”

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the return in 2020, and the postponement in 2021 made it seem like this year’s festival may not happen, but the Washington County Kaolin Festival Committee is pleased to announce that the Kaolin Festival for 2021 is BACK!

During the Monday, October 4 Sandersville City Council meeting, Washington County Chamber of Commerce President Katie Moncus made the official announcement of the Kaolin Festival’s return.

According to Chamber President Moncus, this year’s festivities will take place on Saturday, November 13.

In a letter to the Washington County community, Moncus explained that the Kaolin Festival Committee has worked diligently to ensure a safe and healthy festival environment for attendees, participants, volunteers, and the community through a modified event.

“We thank you for your support, encouragement, and flexibility as we continue to provide events during this time,” said Moncus.

Chamber President Moncus explained that this year’s events will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday, November 13. The Kaolin Festival parade will take place on the morning of Saturday, November 13 beginning at 9:30 a.m.; the parade will run from Washington County High School to the former Sandersville Elementary School. Local vendors will be located on the Courthouse Square. In addition, festival-goers can enjoy the Kaolin Cruise-In car show on the square, as well. A concert will take place at 6 p.m. in Downtown Sandersville.

According to Chamber President Moncus, Kaolin Festival Parade, Kaolin Cruise-In car show, and limited Food Vendor applications are now available! Food vendor applications are limited to a first-come-first-serve basis and are only open to local vendors in Washington County. Applications can be obtained at the Washington County Chamber of Commerce.
