Washington County Commissioners to Discuss Garbage Collection Contract

Washington County Commissioners plan to discuss the County’s garbage collection contract at their Thursday, October 14 meeting.

During the County’s workshop held on Tuesday, October 12, County Administrator Dustin Peebles explained to the Commissioners that the County’s current contract will end at the conclusion of 2021.

The County solicited Request for Proposals (RFPs) regarding the County’s garbage collection services. County Administrator Peebles stated that two proposals were received; they included: Waste Management and Ryland Environmental.

County Administrator Peebles discussed those two proposals with Commissioners on Tuesday; they are as follows:

County Administrator Peebles stated that these bids are for a four-year contract with the County.

In addition to discussing the garbage collection contract, Commissioners will also consider new flooring for the Washington County Tax Commissioners’ building; the flooring sustained damage after a water line burst last month. Commissioners will also vote on the architect selection for the proposed Community Development Block Grant for the Washington County Health Department.

The Washington County Commissioners’ meeting is scheduled for Thursday, October 14 at 9 a.m.
