Washington County Commissioners voted to enter into a contract with Waste Management for the County’s garbage collection services at their Thursday, October 14 meeting.

Washington County Administrator Dustin Peebles explained that the County’s current contract with Waste Management, formerly Advanced Disposal, will end at the conclusion of 2021.

The new contract is for four years.

Prior to voting on the contract, County Administrator Peebles presented the two proposals received by the County for the garbage collection services.

Those two proposals were initially discussed with Commissioners at the Tuesday, October 12 workshop; the proposals are as follows:

In addition, County Administrator Peebles presented a letter from Atlanta Coast Consulting regarding the evaluation factor results for the solid waste collection and disposal proposals. That letter notes that based on evaluation factors Waste Management/Advanced Disposal’s proposal ranked the highest and appeared most advantageous for selection by the County.

After reviewing the proposals, Washington County Commissioners unanimously voted to enter into the four-year contract with Waste Management.
