THOMAS LAMAR “JUDGE” HARRIS

Mr. Thomas Lamar “Judge” Harris, age 93, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, December 4, at 11:00 A.M. in the First Christian Church of Sandersville. Burial will follow in the Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the First Christian Church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of the service.

Mr. Harris was a native of Johnson County, a graduate of Young Harris College and the Teachers College, which is now Georgia Southern University. He spent much of his youth with his father, who was a judge, at the County Courthouse. This is where he acquired the nickname of “Little Judge.” Thomas was a Postal Service retiree, and a Veteran of the United States Airforce and Marine Corps. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Elizabeth McCoy Harris, and parents, Thomas Lamar Harris and Lila Mae Lawrence Harris.

Mr. Harris is survived by his sisters-in-law, Yvonne McKinley (James) of Gordon, Evelyn McCoy of Sparta, Catherine Shurling (William) of Columbia, South Carolina, Betty Hodges of Sandersville, and Joyce McCoy (Bobby) of Phoenix City, Alabama.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Sandersville, 166 East Church Street, Sandersville, Georgia 31082 or to Kings Cleft Disabled Children’s Home, 159 Union Grove Church Road, Wrightsville, Georgia 31096.
