Mrs. Mary Helen Peeler passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Smith Medical Nursing Care Center. Graveside funeral services will be held on Monday, January 3, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. in the Union Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Benjamin Martin officiating.

Mary was born on November 9, 1927, to the parentage of the late Mr. Hardwick McBride and the late Mrs. Lillar Jackson McBride. At an early age, she joined the Union Hill Baptist Church and would faithfully serv until her health declined. She was considered the “Mother” of the church. Following her completion high school in Washington County, she attended and graduated from Fort Valley State College with a bachelor’s degree. Mrs. Peeler’s working career began in 1946 as an educator at the Burnette Grove Baptist Church, continued in Davisboro, and ended with her retirement from D.D. Crawford in Tennille. Mary was married to the late Mr. Rogers Peeler. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Gary and Tangela. Mrs. Peeler was an entrepreneur and a devoted Christian. While working in the church, she served on many boards at and always enjoyed helping in any possible way. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Rogers Peeler; two sisters, Mrs. Velma Biggins and Ms. Ruth Lee Hodges’ and one brother, Mr. Willie James McBride, Sr.

Mrs. Peeler leaves cherished memories to her children, Ms. Tangela Peeler, Milledgeville and Mr. Gary Peeler, Chamblee; sister-in-law, Mrs. Dovie Peeler Williams, St. Paul, Minnesota; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
