Washington County Sheriff Announces Service Awards and Promotions

Washington County Sheriff Joel Cochran recently recognized employees of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office during the annual Christmas dinner event held at Oconee Fall Line Technical College.

“Each and every member of our staff deserve recognition and praises for their contributions,” said Sheriff Cochran. He added, “It takes each person and their individual efforts to make our team remain strong.”

Corporal T.J. Farthing was recognized as Deputy of the Year. Sgt. Rudy Grant was recognized as Part-Time Deputy of the Year.

The Warrant Service award was presented to C.J. Davis. Lt. Ben Perdue was awarded the DUI and Traffic Award for 2021.

Washington County Sheriff Cochran recognized Captain Trey Burgamy as Investigator of the Year.

Nicki Bailey was named Employee of the Year.

The Jail Division Employee of the Year was presented to Lt. Daniel Douglass.

Corporal Austin Shelton was named the Most Improved Employee for 2021.

The Communications Officer of the Year was presented to Ambrea Darrisaw, and the Outstanding Service Award for 2021 was presented to Probation Officer Shalita Shorty.

According to Sheriff Cochran, in addition to awards, employees were also recognized with promotions during the Christmas dinner event.

Those receiving promotions in the Road Patrol Division of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office include Sergeant Robert Butler and Corporal David Raley.

Sergeant Tommy Taylor, Corporal Austin Shelton, and Corporal Laquandrea Walker of the Washington County Jail Division were also recognized with promotions.
