
The Governor Jared Irwin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) recently announced the Good Citizens for 2021 – Anna Kate Robinson and Janyia Hightower.
Anna Kate Robinson is a senior at Brentwood School; she is the daughter of Andy and Marcia Robinson of Wrightsville.
Janyia Hightower from East Dublin is a senior at Washington County High School; she is the daughter of Senta J. Warthen and John Hightower.
These two students were selected by their respective schools to receive the honor.
The DAR Good Citizen Award Program was created to encourage and reward the qualities of good citizenship. The student selected as the school’s DAR Good Citizen must reflect the following qualities: dependability, including truthfulness and loyalty; service, including cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others; leadership, including the ability to assume responsibility; and patriotism, including interests in family, school, community, and nation, all to an outstanding degree.
The two recipients, Anna Kate Robinson and Janyia Hightower, will read their winning essays to the members of the DAR chapter and their invited guests at the Wednesday, March 2 meeting.
At that time, the winner of the essay from Washington County will be announced.
Each recipient will receive a DAR pin, certificate, and a monetary gift.
