Mr. Wilmer Gerald Mason, age 72, of Sandersville passed away January 14, 2022. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. in the Kendall Heights Church of God of Sandersville with burial to follow at the Zeta Cemetery of Tennille. Reverend Weston Williford and Reverend Bobby Williford will officiate. Jay Brantley, Jerry Brantley, Andy Carter, Jonathan Mason, Matt Suttner, and Dave Suttner will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Mason’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at Kendall Heights Church of God.

Mr. Mason was the loving husband of Kathy Mason for fifty-five years. He was a hard worker, a mechanic by trade, and spent most of his working career with Smith Sheppard. Mr. Mason enjoyed growing produce, especially tomatoes, and found pleasure in sharing the fruits of his labor with friends, neighbors, and loved ones. He was an avid sports fan, especially for the World Series Champion Atlanta Braves and College Football National Champion Georgia Bulldogs. Mr. Mason was baptized into his faith as a child at the Tennille Baptist Church and was a longtime member of Kendall Heights Church of God. Mr. Mason was preceded in death by an infant son, Wilmer Gerald Mason, Jr; infant great-grandson, Coty Dewayne “Chipper” Faglier, Jr.; parents, John Wilmer Mason and Jewell Grace Ellis Mason; brother, James Mason; sister, Geraldine Redding; mother-in-law, Betty Martin; and grandparents, Roy Fowler and Georgia Fowler.

Mr. Mason is survived by his wife, Kathy F. Mason; daughters, Melissa Brown (Hugh) of Davisboro, Melanie Williamson (Chris) of Warthen, and Miranda Bell (Andy) of Sandersville; son, Michael Mason (Teresa) of Dexter; grandchildren Christina Welch, Mitch Brown (Kaylee), Maegan Faglier (Coty), Andrew Williford (Katie), Stephen Brown, Christian Mason, Gigi Bell, T.J. Bell, Austin Williamson, and J.T. Williamson; great-grandchildren, Mason Welch, Will Welch, Chesnie Faglier, C.H. Welch, Maddox Faglier, Chrislynn Helton, Glavin Faglier, Paisley Brown, Hudsen Faglier, Ella Brown, and Saylor Williford; siblings, Dorothy Ward (Vonnie), Donnie Mason, Wilmer Gene Mason, and Ronnie Mason (Shelia); sisters-in-law, Joy Hester and Terri Mason; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
