Washington County Qualifying Information: One Contested Seat in BOC and Four Contested Seats in BOE

Qualifying for the May 24 General Primary Election concluded Friday, March 11 at noon, and Washington County is set to see some changes.

The following candidates qualified for Washington County Board of Education:

– Chairman: Randy Mayberry and Robert Blocker, Jr.
– District One: Thomas (Tadpole) Pulliam and Dr. Alan Gray
– District Two: John (Zack) Webb, Kristi Jenkins, and Shanika Wilcher
– District Three: Leigh Jordan with no opposition
– District Four: Mary Y. Hodges, Melvin Williams, and Nathan C. Hodges

There is only one contested race for the Washington County Commissioners. District Two saw three individuals qualifying; they include: Bobby Jackson, Edward Burten, Jr. (incumbent), and Christian Cobb.

Incumbent candidates for the remaining Commissioners’ seats will see no opposition in the upcoming election:

– Chairman: Horace Daniel
– District One: Doug Watkins
– District Three: James Hitchcock
– District Four: Frank “Bossman” Simmons, Jr.

As previously reported by WACO 100, qualifying took place from Monday, March 7 at 9 a.m. through noon on Friday, March 11.

The deadline for voter registration/change of address for the Tuesday, May 24 election is Monday, April 25.

Early voting for the Tuesday, May 24 election will take place from Monday, May 2 through Friday, May 20.

The mandatory Saturday voting will take place on May 7 and May 14.

Polls will be open for the Tuesday, May 24 election from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
