Mr. Steve Chapman, age 71, of Tennille passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022, at his home following an extended illness. A graveside funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, May 17 at 3:00 P.M. in the Zeta Cemetery of Tennille. Reverend Gary Griffin will officiate. The family will receive friends on Monday, May 16 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the home of Dianne and Chuck Whiddon at 558 Mt. Gilead Road in Tennille.

Steve was the son of the late Roger S. Chapman and the late Marie Hattaway Chapman. He was a graduate of Washington County High School and a member of Piney Mount United Methodist Church. Mr. Chapman was an inspiration to many, never allowing his lifelong battle with Ichthyosis to dictate his life. Steve possessed a tremendous work ethic and was employed for over 40 years as a Lab Technician for KT Clay. He was musically inclined, excellent at playing the guitar and writing gospel songs. Mr. Chapman was regarded as a very generous person with a “big heart.” Steve was an avid Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Football fan.

Mr. Chapman is survived by his sisters, Gail Keyser and her husband Kenneth of Mitchell and Dianne Whiddon and her husband Chuck of Tennille; nieces, Lisa Inglett and her husband Randy, Sharon Atkinson and her husband Steven, Tonia Ellis and her husband Ricky, and Tara Clanahan and her husband Greg; nephew, Chris Lindsey and his wife Missi; 5 great-nieces; 9 great-nephews; 4 great-great-nieces; and 3 great-great-nephews.
