Mrs. Ruth Bridges Hammock, age 94, of Riddleville passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the Wrightsville Manor Nursing Home following an extended illness. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, July 29 at 2:00 P.M. in the New Bethel Baptist Church with burial in the Westview Cemetery of Wrightsville. Reverend Marty Deal and Reverend Michael Bailey will officiate. The family will greet friends on Friday at the New Bethel Baptist Church from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service at 2:00 P.M.

Mrs. Hammock was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Kenchie Bridges and the late Addie Roberson Bridges. She attended school in Riddleville and soon after graduation married the late John Thomas “J.T.” Hammock. Ruth began her working career as a Seamstress at Apparel Craft in Wrightsville. Mrs. Hammock was a wonderful homemaker, who enjoyed raising her family, cooking, and gardening. She cherished time spent with her family, sitting in her rocking chair while watching grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. Ruth was a longtime member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hammock is preceded in death by her siblings, Billy Bridges, Jackie Mimbs, and Gay Johnson; and granddaughter, Angela Farmer Woods.

Survivors include her daughter, Jane B. Farmer and husband Donald; grandson, Eric Farmer and wife Ashlee; great-grandchildren, Kinlee Farmer and Kohen Farmer; brother, Bobby Bridges and wife Patsy; and several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that donations be made to the Wrightsville Manor Nursing Home Patient Activities Fund, 608 West Court Street, Wrightsville, Georgia 31096.
