Mrs. Jane Cummings Lawrence, age 85, of Walden Road in Sandersville passed away at her residence on Saturday, March 11, 2023. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, March 16th at 2:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Brownwood Cemetery of Sandersville. Reverend Jason Logins will officiate. Pallbearers will be Andy Garrett, Allen Lawrence, Pete McHan, and Chris Napier. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 15th from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
Mrs. Lawrence was born on February 18, 1938, the daughter of the late James Richard Cummings and the late Johnnie Garrett Cummings. She was fondly regarded as Godly woman, employing her talents to serve multiple churches as pianist, most recently for over 20 years at Sister’s Baptist Church. Jane will be affectionately remembered as a loving caregiver, always prioritizing the needs of others above her own, especially those of her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Lawrence is preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Lawrence, Jr., and her brother, Billy Cummings.
Mrs. Lawrence is survived by her children, Marjorie Lawrence Crosby of Sandersville, Jim Lawrence and wife Kara of Amelia Island, Florida, and Marie Lawrence Prosser; grandchildren, Chris Crosby and wife Samantha of Stapleton, Hannah C. Kelly and husband Jesse of Tennille, Garrett Lawrence and wife Brianne of Orlando, Florida, Joshua Prosser, and Benjamin Prosser; great-grandchildren, Brett Black, Chana Kelly, and Carsyn Kelly; brother-in-law, Wayne Lawrence and wife Gloria of Sandersville; and many loving nieces and nephews.
