
Mrs. Martha Lozier Riner, age 91, of N. Harris Street, Sandersville, died Monday, February 03, 2020 at the Tennille Retirement Home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 5th at 2:00 p.m. at First Christian Church of Sandersville with burial in Brownwood Cemetery. Reverend Cecil Cook will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Andrews, Walden Dudley, Bob Wilson, Bobby Hyman, Allen Smith and Mark Riner.
Mrs. Riner was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of late Nathaniel Hooks Rozier and the late Alma Tucker Lozier Smith. Her working career was spent with her husband Barney in their family business Riner Auto Parts and Hardware where she was the bookkeeper. Mrs. Riner was always very active in her community. She served three terms as Sandersville’s Mayor Pro-team as well as served on the tree board. She was a charter member and past president of the Washington County Pilot Club and also a former member of the Sorosis Club. Mrs. Riner was a longtime member of First Christian Church of Sandersville. She worked her entire life even in retirement at Sandersville City Hall and also volunteering at the Washington County EMS. Mrs. Riner is predeceased by her husband, Barney Russell Riner, daughter, Martha Jo Riner, grandson, Joey Brown and sister Mary L. Irwin.
Survivors are her children, Robert S. Moore Jr., Bonnie Ann Riner Chiurri and her husband John and Russell L. Riner and his wife Faye all of Sandersville; grandchildren, Phil Brown and his wife Karrie and Charlie Brown all of Warthen, Anthony Moore and Nathan Riner and his wife Whitney all of Sandersville, Nick Riner and his wife Heather of Sparta and Kaylee R. Brown and her husband Mitch of Evans; and eight great grandchildren.
The family will be at the home of Faye and Russell Riner on West McCarty Street in Sandersville and they will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville.
