Mr. Willard R. Jordan, age 92, formerly of E. McCarty Street in Sandersville, died Tuesday, May 05, 2020 at Tennille Retirement Home. A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 7th at 2:00 p.m. in the Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery observing social distancing practices. Reverend Ron Dixon will officiate, and military honors will be bestowed. Friends may pay their respects on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in groups of 10 or fewer at May & Smith Funeral Directors.

Mr. Jordan was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the son of the late Willard Irwin Jordan and the late Elizabeth Henderson Jordan. He was a 1945 graduate of Sandersville High School as well as Mars Hill College and Mercer University. He was recruited into the Georgia National Guard where he served during the Berlin Crisis and retired as Major after 23 years of service. In 1959, Willard established Master Recapping Service that later became Jordan Tire and Automotive, a company which he owned and operated until his retirement. Mr. Jordan was a member of Sisters Baptist Church where he was a former deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was formerly active in the Civitan Club and in retirement worked as a Washington County election official. Willard loved playing golf and was a member and former board member of the Twin City Country Club. He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Quillian Segars Jordan.

Survivors include his children, Stanley Jordan and his wife Cindy of Deepstep, Larry Jordan and his wife Jan of Sandersville, Kelli J. Moran and her husband John of Ridgefield CT., Kimberly J. Bragg of Macon and LaTan McIntyre of Baxter, TN; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.
