Mr. Thomas Wayne Register, age 82, of Sandersville, died Wednesday, June 10, 2020. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Tuesday, June 16th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Sandersville. Reverend Lee Lacey will officiate.

Mr. Register was born in Atlanta, the son of the late John Thomas Register and the late Essie Glover Register. He was raised in Haynes City, Florida where he graduated from Haynes City High School and excelled in Football. Wayne began his working career with the Florida Department of Transportation who trained him to be a civil engineer. Wayne and his wife Shirley lived in several Florida Cities while working for the FDOT prior to returning to Haynes City and assuming a position with Register Trucking Inc., a family owned company. Later, Wayne worked again as a civil engineer for the Polk County Department of Transportation from which he retired. He was an avid fisherman while living in Florida and continued working as consultant while in retirement. Wayne and Shirley relocated to Sandersville in 2005 to be near family. While in Sandersville, Wayne became an active member of First Baptist Church. He loved playing golf and was a member of the Twin City Country Club and could be frequently seen at his breakfast club.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley Elliott Register; children, Phillip Register and his wife DeAnna of Key Largo FL., Allen Register and his wife Patty of Palmdale FL., Wade Register and his wife Anna of Sandersville and Roxanne R. Parnell and her husband Shannon also of Sandersville; grandchildren, Tara R. Nash, Jeff Register, Beth Register, Erica Register-Barker, Benjamin Register, Erin Register, Kristen Register and Julia P. Knippers; and sisters, Barbara Ann Costello of Lake Hamilton, FL., and Mary Alice Green of Kissimmee, FL.

The family will be at the Register residence on Ridgeland Drive in Sandersville and they will greet friends following the memorial service at the church.
