
Daniel Leon Jones, 66, of Warthen, GA peacefully exited this life on Thursday, July 16, 2020, after an extended illness. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery following social distance practices. Reverend Tim Powell will officiate.
Danny was born in Sandersville, GA on June 17, 1954, a welcomed and very much-loved surprise addition to the Jones family. He was doted on by his older siblings with whom he shared a special bond throughout their lives. Danny was a loyal employee of Imerys, retiring in 2015 after 30 years of service. Danny was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many terms. Danny will be missed tremendously by many people whose lives he touched over the years. His family would like to thank his caregivers: Jean Daniel, Vivian Ray, Kim Johnson, and the staff of Addington Place Memory Care Unit and Serenity Place Hospice in Dublin for the loving care they showed him in his final days. They would also like to thank special family friends, Lynn and Gene Broxton for the love and support they have showed Danny’s mother during the long journey.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Loy McDonald Jones; children, Jeremy Jones and his wife Corrie and Laura Gaines and her husband Jon; eight grandchildren whom he loved (and who all love him) dearly: Breck Jones, Kaylan Gaines, Aine Jones, Nico Gaines, Maddie Jones, Sarah Gaines, JoNann Gaines, and Luke Gaines.; siblings, Wilbur Jones and his wife Audre, Warren Jones and his wife Judy, and Linda McDaniel; sisters-in-law, Louise Jones and Lynn Sexton and her husband Sam; brothers-in-law, Herbert Hodges and Dwayne McDonald and his wife Kathie; mother-in-law, Blanche McDonald, who loves him as if he were her own; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Gilmore Jones and Grace Tanner Jones, father-in-law, Lloyd McDonald, and siblings, Betty Upshaw and her husband Gerald, Jeanette Snider and her husband Marion, Jimmy Jones, and Martina Hodges.
