Mr. Charles E. “Charlie” Weaver, age 79, of News Bridge Road, Harrison, died Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Washington County Regional Medical Center.  A private family only funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 12th in May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel.  Reverend Chad Waller will officiate.

Mr. Weaver was born in Atlanta and reared in Snellville, the son of the late Ellen Stokesberry Youngblood.  He was a long-time resident of Washington County where he began work in construction with Billy Avant Construction.  Soon Charlie created his own company, Charles Weaver Construction in which he owned and operated until his retirement.  Charlie was known as a master craftsman and oversaw the building of numerous Washington County structures.  His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.  Go cart racing with children was one of his earlier and favorite pastimes and he enjoyed attending Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Rita Bates Weaver of Harrison; children, Alicia Weaver of Mississippi, Johnny Weaver and Wayne Smith both of Harrison, Cheryl Armstead of Monroe and Jennifer Copeland also of Harrison; grandchildren, C.J. Smith, Brianna Smith, Brittany Ann Clark, William Allen Clark, Courtney Wray, Caitlin Talford, Lillian Copeland, Leighann Copeland and Charlie Copeland; six great grandchildren; and sister, Ginger Gee of Harrison.
