Mrs. Betty Richardson passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at a local hospital. Graveside funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Georgia Grove Baptist Church with Elder Jessie Mountain officiating.

Betty was born on January 6, 1953 in Washington County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Robert Lee Tukes and the late Mrs. Katherine Henderson Tukes. At an early age, she accepted Christ into her life and joined theGeorgia Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Betty married Mr. Tommie Richardson on September 13, 1974. They were blessed with forty-six (46) years of marriage. Mrs. Richardson worked at RJ Stubbard, Mohawk Industries, Smith Medical Nursing Care Center, The Front Porch, and the Wrightsville Manor Nursing Home during the course of her working career until she her retirement on December 26, 2020. Betty was described as a wonderful person who enjoyed family and friends. She relished the opportunity of a call to request her cooking, as she would cook for her family any day of the week. Betty loved fishing with her sisters and attending her church. She always had a smile on her face and love in her heart. Family and friends would laugh as she felt the need to speak her mind, and then ask, “what now,” with a smile. She proudly wore the title of “Grandma” to her grandchildren and many others, always willing to “do for them” no matter the occasion.

She was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Mr. Travarris M. Tukes, Jr., Ms. Jhanasia Tukes, and Ms. Kaylii Monroe; and three brothers, Mr. Willie James Henderson, Mr. Freddie Lee Tukes and Mr. Rickey Lee Tukes.

Mrs. Richardson leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Mr. Tommie Richardson, Sandersville; children, Mrs. Kather (Dale) Roberson, Waynesboro, Ms. Charlene Tukes, Tenille, Mr. Steven (Kimberly) Richardson, Tennille, and Mr. Travarris (Brandy) Tukes, Grovetown; grandchildren reared as children, Mr. Stanques Tukes, Mr. Antwan Tukes, Mr. Stetson Richardson, Mr. Jakori Richardson, Ms. Qunetta Tukes, and Ms. Vakeshia Tukes; sisters, Mrs. Susan (Casey) Rogers, Mrs. Brenda (Bennie Frank) James, Mrs. Katherlene (Sanford) Braddy, Mrs. Ollie Tukes (Amos Williams), and Ms. Martha Faye Tukes; brother, Mr. Earnest “Bo” Tukes; grandchildren, Ms. Shundrekia Tukes, Ms. Brennell Tukes, Mr. Derrick James, Ms. Dealeatrice Tukes, Ms. Chantara Tukes, Ms. Kebrana Warthen, Ms. Alexis Tukes, and Ms. Shanzekia Kitchens; great aunt, Ms. Martha Tukes; sisters-in-law, Ms. Lula Mae Brown and Ms. Janie Williams; brothers-in-law, Mr. Leroy (Lois) Richardson and Mr. William (Jeanette) Richardson; devoted friends, Ms. Ann Hagans, Ms. Lois Collins, Ms. Vivian Grant, Mrs. Karen Harper, and Ms. Sjokia Johnson; and a host of great-grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
