Mrs. Ann Welch, age 79, of Sandersville passed away on Monday, August 23, 2021 at her residence. A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 3:00 P.M. at the Sisters Baptist Church with burial in White Oak Church Cemetery. Reverend Dr. Brian Welch will officiate. Pallbearers will be Caleb Lord, Nate Taylor, Charlie Welch, Clint Welch, Graham Welch, and Tony Welch. Members of the  Sandersville Gideons Auxiliary will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Mrs. Welch was born in Lake City, Florida and reared in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Tyre and the late Virginia Adams Tyre. Mrs. Welch spent her working career as an administrative assistant, retiring from the Georgia Department of Corrections. She enjoyed reading and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. Mrs. Welch was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a the biggest supporter of her grandchildren, especially in their athletic endeavors. Mrs. Welch was a dedicated follower of Jesus Christ, and served her Savior as a member of the Sandersville Gideon’s Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Sister’s Baptist Church, where she attended the Silent Seekers Sunday School Class. Mrs. Welch is preceded in death by her grandson, Chase Welch.

Mrs. Welch is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard Welch of Sandersville; children, Brian Welch and his wife Karen of Savannah, Kelli W. Taylor and her husband Ron of Wrightsville, and Daniel Welch and his wife Tracy of Sandersville; grandchildren, Jade Taylor, Nate Taylor, Graham Welch, Chayce Welch, Addison Welch, and Bralee Welch; siblings, Edie Bass of Ruston, Louisiana and Jerry Tyre and his wife Anne of Jacksonville, Florida; and many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the May and Smith Funeral Home practicing social distancing.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that donations be made to the Gideons International, P.O. Box 891, Sandersville, Georgia 31082.
