Mrs. Brenda Stephens Askew, age 58, of Archer Road in Sandersville passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at her residence. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, August 26 at 2:00 P.M. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Weston Williford will officiate. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of the service at the May and Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Askew was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Lee Otis Stephens and the late Betty Jane Meeks Stephens. She was a graduate of the Washington County High School in 1981 and soon after began her working career with Food Lion Grocery Store. Brenda was a longtime retail clerk for the Feed Mill and last worked for Napa Auto Parts in Louisville. Mrs. Askew enjoyed working in her yards, fishing, traveling to the mountains, and assembling Christmas gifts for residents of local nursing homes. She was known for her friendly and outgoing personality. Brenda cherished and adored her role as a grandmother. Mrs. Askew is preceded and death by her siblings, Curtis Stephens, Sheree Gidens, and Eileen Helton.

Survivors include her sons, Daniel Askew of Tennille and Ben Askew and his wife Anne of Fort Myers, Florida; grandson, Jeffrey Askew; siblings, Benny Stephens of Sandersville and Sadie S. Flury and her husband Julius of Milledgeville; and partner, Stanley Clements of Wrightsville.
