Mr. Ben William Franklin, age 73, of Walden Road in Sandersville passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022, at his residence following an extended illness. A graveside funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, August 31st at 11:00 A.M. in the Brownwood Cemetery of Sandersville. Reverend Roger Holly will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service in the Cemetery.

Mr. Franklin was a native and lifelong resident of Sandersville, the son of the late Sam Franklin and the late Lillian Franklin. He was a graduate from the Washington County High School. Ben served his country as a member of the United States Army while stationed in Panama. Following his service, Mr. Franklin began an over 30-year career with Lapp Insulator as a Laboratory Technician. In retirement, he taught as a certified welding instructor at the Sandersville Technical College. Ben had a passion for riding motorcycles and enjoyed watching NASCAR as self-described “huge Bill Elliott fan.” Mr. Franklin is preceded in death by a daughter, Tracy Michelle Franklin.

Survivors include his wife, Jenny O’Quinn Franklin of Sandersville; children, William Smith and his wife Ashia of Augusta and Sharon Franklin of Charleston, South Carolina; and grandchildren, Allie Smith, Abbie Smith, and Charlie Smith.
