Gloria Ann Greenway Josey, age 90, of Highway 24 East in Sandersville passed away on April 29, 2023, while surrounded by her family. A graveside funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Wednesday, May 3 at 11:00 A.M. in Brownwood Cemetery of Sandersville with Mrs. Tonia Boutelle and Mr. Mike Sheppard officiating. Pallbearers will be Ernie Arnold, Lee Avant, Don Greenway, Butch Griffin, Allen Orr, Lewis Josey, and Lee Parker. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 2 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. in Mrs. Josey’s residence at 6024 Highway 24 East in Sandersville.

Mrs. Josey was born in Millen on April 19, 1933, to the late Eustace Alton Greenway and the late Anna Belle Underwood Greenway. She was raised in Riddleville and was a 1950 graduate from the Sandersville High School. Gloria married the late Lewis Edwin “Buck” Josey in 1951 and lived for brief stints in San Antonio, Texas and Washington D.C. during his time in the United States Air Force before he was deployed to Korea. Mrs. Josey relocated to Macon upon her husband’s return home to raise their family. Gloria worked with Hamilton Air and as Office Manager of Tommy Griffith Plumbing until 2004. Affectionately known as “Gran,” Mrs. Josey was regarded as a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, and true friend. She served as matriarch of her family and as a source of support, encouragement, and love to the lives she crossed. Gloria enjoyed decorating her home and beautifying her yard with flowers, making her home a popular gathering spot for holidays, birthdays, Sunday lunches, and weddings. Mrs. Josey enjoyed attending any possible event for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, Alton Donald Greenway.

Survivors include her children, Connie Josey Daniels and husband Charles, Eddie Josey and wife Nancy, and Randy Josey and wife Tamara; grandchildren, Melissa Daniels Weatherford and husband David, Tonia Daniels Boutelle and husband Jeremy, Carla Daniels Jones and husband Chad, Michael Daniels and wife Katie, Leanne Josey McDonald and husband Chad, Buck Josey and husband Tiffany, Jarrod Josey and wife Sherrie, Montana Josey, and Mackenzie Josey Wiggins and husband Evan; 19 great-grandchildren; Cole Weatherford and wife Emily, Katie Weatherford and fiancé Tripp, Anna Grace Boutelle, Sophia Boutelle, Wyatt Boutelle, Lane Jones, Callie Jones, Mick Daniels, Cam Dollar, Josey McDonald, Wynn Josey, Bailey Josey, Cheyenne Meader, Levi Meader, Tyson Josey, Trip Josey, Tori Dunn, Chase Dunn, and Bayne Wiggins.
