Darryl Wayne Green, Sr., age 63, of Grady Mertz Road in Tennille passed away at his residence on Saturday, December 14, 2024. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held on Wednesday, December 18 at 2:00 p.m. in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel of Sandersville with burial in Zeta Cemetery of Tennille. Reverend Scott Ferguson will officiate. Pallbearers will be Darryl Green, Jr., Jordan Reid, Tim Blue, Matthew Green, Colby Mathis, and Elliott Grice. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 17 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Green was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County, reared in Tennille and a graduate of the Washington County School. He was a 7-year veteran and expert rifleman of the Georgia Army National Guard. Darryl spent much of his working career as a Heavy Equipment Operator with C.T. Harris Inc., retiring from Howard Sheppard. Mr. Green enjoyed the outdoors – hunting, fishing, and cooking on the grill for family and friends. He was known for his caring demeanor and big heart. Darryl most cherished his time spent with family, especially his dad and grandchildren. Mr. Green is preceded in death by his mother, Florence Emily Turner Green, and brother, William Kerry Green.
Survivors include his loving wife, Joyce Green of Tennille; children, Dana Blue and husband Tim, Darryl Green, Jr. and wife Carly, and DeAnna Reid and husband Jordan; grandchildren, Bella Reid, Hunter Reid, and Darryl “Trey” Green III; grandson-to-be, John William Green; father Willie Green; brothers, Keith Green and wife Pam and Travis Green and wife Christy; and mother of his children, Debra Whipple Green.
