LINDSEY “SHOT” ASBERRY

Mr. Linsey Asberry, affectionately known as “Shot,” age 73, formerly of Sandersville, passed away on Sunday, April 13 in Newark, New Jersey. Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday April 20 at 1:00 p.m. in the Marshall Grove Baptist Church Cemetery of Sandersville.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 19 from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the L.M. Pierce Funeral Home.

Mr. Asberry was born in Sandersville on May 27, 1951, the son of the late Robert “Jake” Asberry and the late Daisy Cullen Asberry. He attended the Public Schools of Washington County High School, where he led the marching band as a drum major. Following graduating, Linsey moved to Newark, New Jersey to be near family. Shot was a longtime employee of Fine & Tastey Meats, retiring in 2008. Mr. Asberry was often seen sporting a smile around the town on his daily walks. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Lucille Asberry, Hubert Asberry, Otis Asberry, Frank Asberry, Christine Stubbs and Jennie Stubbs.

Survivors include his daughter, Malika Asberry Manning of Virginia; grandsons, Tishawn Manning and Dashawn Manning of Virginia; great-granddaughter, Skylah Manning of Virginia; siblings, Robert Asberry and wife Naomi of New Jersey, Leroy Stubbs of New Jersey, Raymond Foster and wife Yvonne of Sandersville, and Evelyn Foster of Tennille; uncle, Willie Fred Barnes of Sandersville; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, family, and friends.
