Mrs. Shirley McMillan Segars, age 84, of Martinez, formerly of Washington County, died on September 19 at the residence of her daughter in Martinez.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Saturday September 22 in the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Sandersville.  Burial will be private for family in Washington County Memorial Gardens Cemetery.  Reverend Dewey Henderson will officiate.

Mrs. Segars was a native of Brooks County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Norman Pedue McMillan and the late Thelma Mary Hulsey McMillan.  She was the wife of the late Rex Segars.  Mrs. Segars was a graduate of Georgia State College for Women with a degree in Home Economics and Education.  She was a teacher with the Washington County Board of Education for over thirty five years.  Mrs. Segars was a member of the White Oak Church. She was a avid sports participant, playing softball, basketball, tennis and golf. She enjoyed riding a motorcycle.

Survivors are her daughter, Wanda Segars of Martinez, a son David Segars (Julie Smith) of Sandersville, three grandchildren, Brandee Blythe (Bobby), Douglas Segars and Dillon Smith, four great grandchildren, Kamryn Blythe, Gavin Blythe, Dallon Segars and Preston Segars.

The family will receive friends at May and Smith Funeral Home in Sandersville from 10:00 A.M. on Saturday until the hour of service.

The family suggest donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Shriner’s Childrens Hospital in memory of Mrs. Segars.

May and Smith Funeral Directors in Sandersville is in charge of the arrangements.
