
Mrs. Ann Yarbrough Barron, age 68, of Warthen, died Monday, March 4, 2019 at Washington County Extended Care Facility following an extended illness. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 7th at 2:00 P.M. in May and Smith Funeral Chapel with burial in Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Reverend William Moody, Reverend Danny Thomas and Minister Marlon Lastinger will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jason Yarbrough, Jason Tarte, Tommy C. Rachels, Travis Barron, Brent Barron and Pat Chastain.
Mrs. Barron was born in Laurens County and reared in Baldwin County. She was the daughter of the late James Robert Yarbrough and the late Helen Warren Yarbrough. She attended and graduated from Rabun Gap Nacoochee School in Rabun Gap, Georgia, a place she would forever cherish. Ann worked in accounting for Georgia Department of Corrections from which she retired. She also was employed as a customer service manager for Walmart where she worked for 20 years. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Some of Ann’s favorite pastimes where cooking, decorating cakes, sewing and creating jewelry. She loved to travel, especially back to Rabun Gap for annual class reunions.
Survivors include, her husband, Joe Barron of Warthen; brothers, Gary Yarbrough and his wife Myra of Conyers, and Emmett Yarbrough and his wife Marie of Milledgeville; stepchildren, Jon Brent Barron and his wife Sherri of Waverly, Tracy Barron Welch and her husband Daniel of Sandersville, and Travis Barron and his wife P.J. of Warthen; and grandchildren, Chayce Welch, Addison Welch, Brylee Welch, Bailey Barron, Justin Barron, Mattie Barron, Benjamin Barron, Hannah Barron and Brayden Barron.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Funeral Home.
